This orange sauce is so creamy, and it’s just exploding with flavor! You can seriously just eat it with a spoonful. I always ask my daughter to taste and she was so amazed by the taste 😋.
Why is it called Orange Sauce?
It’s called orange sauce because of its gorgeous characteristic orange colour. The fresh cream/milk mixed with the tomato paste produces a pasta sauce with a lovely orange🧡.
How to make Orange Sauce Penne Pasta?
While you having pasta cooking in the pot as per the cooking instructions given on the @gracious_bakers Penna Pasta box, start frying your meat. I fried lamb sausage with homemade bone marrow compound butter. You could use any other meat you like — chicken/beef strips, or sliced deskinned chorizo (I preferred this way, but Chorizo was not available for me at the time of shopping).
For the sauce😋, heat your pan with butter and lower the stove to medium heat. Pour 2T of tomato paste, 2T of fresh cream, and 50ml of full cream milk. Add 1/4 tsp of oregano, thyme(or basil), and salt.— I undermined adding herbs spices, but they do make the taste to be different 😋. Add about 2T of grated cheddar cheese and allow to simmer for 7 to 10 min.
If you're concerned about the tomato paste being acidic, add a pinch of baking soda tomato paste in the pan before adding milk and cream to the pan. This will neutralize the tomato and also make the sauce taste sweeter.
How to serve?
Once done with the sauce add your cooked penne pasta and sausages to the saucepan and serve. Sprinkle some parsley and parmesan cheese on serving😋 Enjoy😉
